As I’m sure you’ve noticed, most of my recipes are super simple. This is another one to add to that category.
Mr. Nest is a big fan of meatball sandwiches. What man isn’t? I usually skip the bread, but I still enjoy the meatballs.
Here’s our recipe:
- 1/2lb ground beef
- 3 crunched up saltines, or a bit of Panko depending on what’s in the pantry
- Worcestershire (duh)
- 1tsp Lawry’s
- 1/2tsp Garlic Powder
- Prego Traditional
- Hoagie Rolls (if you want them)
- Cheese (mozz is good, or whatever floats your boat)
Preheat the oven to 350
Mix all the ingredients up in a bowl, and roll into balls. About the size you’d roll cookies into (and the comparison ends there).
Heat up some oil (we use light olive oil) in an oven safe pan with a cover (I use our non stick, but stainless works too) and brown the outsides of the meatballs.
Once you’ve got a nice crust on the meatballs, pour in your Prego to taste, put the cover on the pan and bake it until the meatballs are cooked through – it takes me about 30 minutes usually.
Then, if you’re making sandwiches pull some bread out of the middle of the bun to create a trench for the meat and sauce, and spoon some meatballs in. Top with cheese, and enjoy.
Or, if you’re like me, spoon them onto a plate and dig in. 🙂
